The 2026 Pentecost Novalis Conference in Dornach
Queridos amigos,
The 2026 Pentecost Novalis Conference in the Schreinerei was an event filled with surprises, spiritual content, and spiritual friendships.
Perhaps one of the most unexpected moments at the conference was a last minute change in the program. My lecture “Novalis als Trickster” and the performance of my translation of Himnos a la noche de Novalis changed positions. Instead of the performance going first on Saturday afternoon, we moved the lecture to Saturday afternoon and put the performance of Hymns to the Night by Novalis on Sunday.
Why?
Our conference was fortunate to have the Einzelton Duo in attendance. This newly formed duo consisting of Emmanuel Vukovich (violin) and Michael Hernandez (soprano saxophone) arrived in Dornach right at the beginning of their European tour, and they premiered new music composed for them by the distinguished composer Michael Denhoff: έργον 2: Sinn für Sinn (mit Novalis).

Following this premiere, Emmanuel Vukovich and Bruce Donehower performed Himnos a la noche de Novalis, a collaborative inter-sectional North American project that Emmanuel and Bruce premiered at the Conferencia de la Sección Norteamericana de 2025 en San Francisco.
This 2026 Pentecost afternoon of music and poetry landed very well! All the performers received an extended standing ovation. It was a thrill to speak the words of Novalis in North American English at the Goetheanum in the Schreinerei! Perhaps no other poet enjoys such a special place in the beating heart of Anthroposophie as Novalis, one might argue . . .

Except for my translation of Himnos a la noche de Novalis, the entire conference was in German. Only a few North American Section friends and members were present.
