“Die Poesie spricht, was die Stille will” / Sektionssitzung mit Robert McDermott & Bruce Donehower

“Spiritual Friendship”

Liebe Freunde,

At our Section meeting on May 2, 2026 (birthday of Novalis), Robert McDermott and I teamed up for another collaborative presentation on the theme of “east” and “west,” so called.  I made a recording of this meeting, and here is the edited and chaptered video.

Robert spoke about his encounters with Sri Aurobindo and H.H. the Dalai Lama. Bruce spoke on the topic of “Poetry speaks what Silence intends” . . . which is a phrase I coined to discuss Andrei Belyi’s descriptions of the Esoteric Hours with Rudolf Steiner in the theosophical years of the anthroposophical movement.

Enjoy!

Poetry speaks what Silence intends.”

Peter Rennick shared this poem and observation about our meeting on May 2, 2026.

More Valentine

I listened to the old men
Speak what they had learned
As young men eager and afraid
In the temples of longing and love
What stuck with them
Through all the vagaries
And unexpected turns
The stones and shells
They would take back with them
To lay at the feet of love
Their hearts like begging bowls
Their eyes brimming with tears
Their silent wish in the end
To be sent back for more
